May 20th Meeting / Flower Printing

The next meeting of the "Unseamlies" is on Saturday, May 20th 9:30 a.m. at the Kanegis Gallery & Studios.

What do we have planned? Flower printing, show and tell, talk about collaborations and future meetings, report on the Denver show, etc. We'll skip a potluck this time due to the morning timeframe. See your email for directions to the studio.

For Flower Printing (see Quilting Arts Magazine Spring 2006 issue) :

Bring fresh flowers or use the daisies we'll have there (best flowers to use are fairly flat with well-defined petals and flat centers, like daisies, hibiscus, petunia, lilies and simple wildflowers...not flowers like roses. lilacs or hydrangeas)

Bring leaves to print also or pick some outside the studio

Bring fabric of any content (smooth weave, washed, ironed, mostly light colors but can use dark or black with the metallic paints)

Bring textile paint if you have it or use the paint we'll have there (use opaque or metallic...but not transparent or sunprinting paint)

Bring a foam core board or something comparable, like heavy cardboard to pin or tape your fabric during printing

We'll have the other items used so you don't have to bring them: brushes, masking tape, telephone books, tissue paper
